TheAttorneys: M&A and Strategic Transactions Expert of the Year at the Corporate, Commercial and M&A Summit and Awards 2026

The Corporate, Commercial and M&A Summit and Awards 2026 brought together the finest minds in deal-making — and we could not be prouder of who stood out.

On 29th April 2026, our Managing Partner, Ms. Anku Khanna, was named M&A and Strategic Transactions Expert of the Year at the Corporate, Commercial and M&A Summit and Awards 2026 – 3rd Edition, organised by Achromic Point in New Delhi. The award was presented by Mr. Satwinder Singh, Founder & Managing Partner, Aekom Legal — a recognition presented before the foremost gathering of M&A and corporate law professionals in the country.

About the Summit

Now in its third edition, the Corporate, Commercial and M&A Summit — themed “The Global M&A Landscape”— is one of India’s premier platforms for deal-making professionals, bringing together senior legal practitioners, investment bankers, corporate counsel, and business leaders to examine the forces shaping cross-border and domestic transactions. Achromic Point, the summit’s organiser, is a well-established corporate intelligence and events company known for convening high-calibre conversations at the intersection of law, commerce, and policy.

The awards presented at the Summit recognise professionals who have demonstrated exceptional expertise, leadership, and commercial judgment in their respective areas of practice. Being named M&A and Strategic Transactions Expert of the Year places Ms. Khanna among a select group of practitioners acknowledged by the industry itself for the quality and sophistication of their transactional work.

Regulatory Challenges and Government Initiatives in Indian M&A

Alongside receiving the award, Ms. Khanna delivered a substantive session at the Conclave, addressing two of the most consequential dimensions of M&A practice in India today.

On regulatory challenges, Ms. Khanna unpacked the layered closing conditions that define Indian M&A — from the NCLT’s scheme approval process and the CCI’s suspensory merger control regime, to SEBI’s Takeover Code obligations and FEMA’s cross-border compliance framework. She also addressed the growing complexity introduced by sector-specific regulators — from IRDAI in insurance to the Department of Telecommunications in telecom — and the geopolitical considerations that Press Note 3 introduces for deals involving land-bordering countries.

On government initiatives, Ms. Khanna examined the wave of reforms that have significantly altered India’s deal environment: 100% FDI in insurance, the RBI’s new bank-led acquisition financing framework effective April 2026, the introduction of deal value thresholds under the Competition (Amendment) Act, 2023, and the data protection obligations under the DPDP Act that have created an entirely new diligence workstream in technology and healthcare transactions.

A Recognition of Excellence

This honour reflects Ms. Khanna’s ability to structure and execute complex transactions with precision, commercial depth, and a nuanced command of deal architecture and regulatory frameworks. It is a recognition not just of technical expertise, but of the clarity and strategic insight she brings to some of the most sophisticated business environments in the country.

At TheAttorneys, M&A is a practice that demands the full spectrum of legal and commercial intelligence — an understanding of regulatory closing conditions, an appreciation of the commercial pressures that drive deal timelines, and the judgment to advise clients through complexity without losing sight of their ultimate objectives. Ms. Khanna’s recognition is a validation of that approach.

This recognition is a reflection of Ms. Khanna’s dedication to the practice — and of the team at TheAttorneys that works alongside her every day. We are deeply proud of this honour and extend our sincerest congratulations to Ms. Anku Khanna.
